🔒 Summary in Plain English: PixelTimer is a 100% offline-first application. We do not collect, store, sell, or transmit any personal identifiable data, tracking information, or usage analytics. Everything you do inside the app stays strictly on your physical Android device.
01. Information We Do Not Collect
Unlike typical productivity and timer applications, PixelTimer does not operate cloud servers, user accounts, or backend databases. Specifically, we do NOT collect:
- No Personal Identifiers: We do not ask for or collect your email address, legal name, phone number, contacts, or location.
- No Cloud Accounts: You do not need to register, sign in with Google, or create a password to use any part of the app.
- No Device Fingerprints or Advertising IDs: We do not read your Google Advertising ID (AAID), IMEI, MAC address, or cellular network info.
- No Payment Details: PixelTimer is completely free with zero in-app purchases or subscription billing.
02. Local Data Stored on Your Device
All application data is saved locally on your Android device using Android's encrypted local storage APIs (SharedPreferences and internal storage). This data includes:
- Display Name: A preferred nickname or first name you optionally provide during initial onboarding to personalize the timer header.
- Timer Preferences: Configured durations for Focus (e.g., 25 minutes), Short Breaks (e.g., 5 minutes), and Long Breaks.
- Focus History & Statistics: Timestamp records of completed Pomodoro sessions, total minutes focused, current focus streak, and daily milestone tallies.
- Visual & Theme Customization: Your selected default pixel art backdrop scene and sound preferences.
This data never leaves your device under any circumstances and cannot be accessed by us or any third party.
03. Android Permissions Used by PixelTimer
PixelTimer requests minimal, strictly necessary Android system permissions to deliver core timer functionality:
-
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+ / API 33+): Allows PixelTimer to display a sticky countdown notification in your notification shade and lock screen while a focus or break session is active.
-
FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE: Allows the countdown timer to continue running smoothly and accurately when the app is minimized or your screen is locked.
-
VIBRATE: Triggers a gentle tactile haptic vibration when your Pomodoro focus session or break period concludes.
PixelTimer does NOT request camera, microphone, precise location, storage media, contacts, or calendar permissions.
04. Third-Party Services, SDKs & Trackers
PixelTimer contains zero third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics SDKs:
- No Google Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics
- No Google AdMob or banner ad networks
- No Facebook / Meta tracking SDKs
- No diagnostic telemetry or telemetry crash reporters
If you download PixelTimer through the Google Play Store, Google may collect standard application download and install telemetry subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
05. Data Retention & How to Delete Your Data
Because all statistics and settings exist exclusively on your device, you have complete control over your data:
- Reset Settings: You can reset stats or reconfigure defaults directly inside the app's Settings menu.
- Clear App Storage: In Android Settings > Apps > PixelTimer > Storage > tap "Clear Storage" / "Clear Data" to instantly delete all session history.
- Uninstalling: Uninstalling PixelTimer immediately and permanently deletes all stored data and files from your device.
06. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)
PixelTimer is family-friendly and safe for all ages. We do not knowingly solicit, collect, or process personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, PixelTimer fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
07. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect updates to Android operating system requirements or new features. Any modifications will be posted directly to this web page with an updated "Effective Date" at the top of the policy.
